We Welcome To The Team 6 New Ronins! https://www.ronin.consulting/press-releases/welcome-to-the-team-part-2/ Tue, 08 Nov 2022 15:23:22 +0000 https://www.ronin.consulting/?p=1030 We’ve Been Growing! Welcome To The Team Rōnins!

Ronin has been rapidly growing, and we’re excited to welcome to the team some new Rōnins! We’re pleased to present:

Tom Smith – Software Engineer

A bit about Tom.

Tom Smith actually touched a real working computer in the 1980s. Twice!

By the mid-90s he was gainfully employed as a software technician, working on the confounded things daily.

By the mid-2000s, Tom was a weathered database developer with a thing for creating reports and .NET web apps and solving problems.

He has plied his trade in cities all over the USA, finally landing for good in Knoxville where he lives with his family and all their various computers.

Randall Moore – Software Engineer

Randall graduated with a B.S. in Accounting (Minor in Math and Science) from TTU in 1991. In the time since, he’s tackled projects across the Healthcare, Grocery, and Manufacturing industries.

You’ll find him golfing, at the gym, or stock trading in his free time.

Joseph Hegeman – Software Architect

Joe’s development career started almost 25 years ago, beginning with Newton Message Pad and Visual Basic. In the years since, he has added mobile development and an extensive amount of .NET experience to his name while working for companies like AOL/CompuServe and QVC/HSN.

In his free time, Joe coaches his son’s middle school tennis team and helps on the Pit/Prop crew for his daughter’s marching band. After he’s done being an awesome dad, you’ll find him playing board/tabletop games with his family.

Blake Cross – Software Engineer

Blake is a React Developer from Sarasota, FL, and has lived in Franklin, TN for just over a year now. He absolutely loves music and film, so when deciding where to move to after school, Nashville seemed like an ideal place.

On a normal day, you can find him at a local coffee shop in Franklin, making music, or at the local AMC. A special note: he and his wife Natalie recently married and the two originally met while in college in Lynchburg, VA.

Natalie Metke – Business Analyst

Natalie has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and has been in the consulting/analyst world for over 20 years, having worked for IBM, InfoWorks, C3 and Parallon.

She’s been married for over 32 years with 2 grown boys and a band new daughter-in-law. In her free time, she loves to travel and has her eyes set on some new places to explore in Europe.

Matt Conway – Software Engineer

A Memphis, Tennessee native, Matt got into technology early at the age of 10 when his mom bought his brother and him their first Gateway Computer. They were only interested in printing Dragon Ball Z photos at that time, but having that computer sparked his interest.

Fast forward a bit, and Matt went to MTSU to study Computer Science in 2011, where he completed his degree with honors. Landing his first job at a solutions company, he spent his time developing extensive problem-solving skills with his growing software development skills.

After almost 6 years at that solutions company, he wanted something that would challenge him and allow him to diversify his skillset. He wanted to surround himself with experts from whom he could learn and grow and felt Ronin provided that opportunity for him.

He found his passion as a full-stack developer in 2019 and has been writing flawless, compiling code ever since. He is frequently found in local coffee shops, museums, and bookstores. In his quest to become “The Most Interesting Man in the World,” Jansen has traveled to 11 countries across 4 continents and can order coffee in 6 different languages.

She loves hiking, photography, and kayaking.

Michael Viscontini – Senior Developer

Joseph Grady – Senior Developer

Joseph majored in Computer Engineering at Lipscomb University and graduated in 2014. He’s been a full-stack .NET software developer ever since then, with a particular emphasis on working on the front-end UI. He enjoys everything outdoors (hiking, kayaking, skiing, walking) for fun.

Marcia Clark – Senior Business Analyst

Marcia joined Ronin in January 2022 as a Senior Business Analyst. She is the proud mother of 3 beautiful teenage girls. She also has 3 adorable dogs (Sebastian Arnold, Willie, and Waylon). She enjoys reading, cooking, and working in her backyard/garden in her spare time.

Rōnin Consulting Supports Modern Work Models for Team Members https://www.ronin.consulting/press-releases/ronin-consulting-supports-new-modern-work-models-for-team-members/ Mon, 13 Dec 2021 18:42:03 +0000 https://www.ronin.consulting/?p=680 As part of continuing efforts to positively impact the lives of our employees, we are pleased to announce that Rōnin Consulting has embraced modern work models.  Whether fully remote, hybrid, or full-time at the office, our team members can choose the work arrangement that best suits their preferences and lifestyles.

While we support our work-from-anywhere employees, we also continue to invest in the Rōnin office (aka “The Dojo”).  The Dojo is the place that promotes technical innovation in ways that just can’t be done in virtual meetings.  The Dojo is also where employees and clients come to hang out and play games after hours or enjoy a Nespresso and catch up with each other.

modern work models

We are establishing a new benefit to facilitate the initiative of supporting our work-from-anywhere employees.  Beginning in 2022, the company will offset the cost of home Internet for team members. We want our employees to feel they can work from home or come into the Dojo anytime.

Why Rōnin Believes In Modern Work Models

Work and personal life have become increasingly blurred. With these lines often overlapping, we know how important it is for us as a business to prioritize and achieve a healthy equilibrium between work and home.

We know a work-life balance is vital for maintaining physical and mental health. Prolonged periods of overwork and stress can lead to burnout, anxiety, depression, and various other health issues. As a business that allows and supports employees to create a balance between their professional commitments and personal lives –we want to increase the overall well-being of our employees.

A healthy work-life balance and adopting one of these new hybrid work models directly influences job satisfaction and productivity. When employees can allocate time to their personal interests, hobbies, and relationships, they return to work more rejuvenated and motivated. Conversely, employees who feel overwhelmed by excessive work demands and a lack of personal time may experience decreased morale and reduced productivity.

Benefits of a Balanced Work-Life Approach

A balanced work-life approach also contributes to the development of well-rounded Rōnins. We believe that when our employees have time to pursue personal interests outside of work, they show:

Improved Physical & Mental Health: Reduced stress and burnout and improved overall well-being.

Enhanced Job Satisfaction: Personal time helps Rōnins cultivate enthusiasm, creativity, and motivation.

Increased Productivity: Well-rested and energized Rōnins are more efficient.

Reduced Turnover Costs: Lower turnover rates save recruitment and training expenses.

Broader Perspectives: The pursuit of personal interests fosters diverse skills and viewpoints.

Increased Problem-Solving: A balanced approach enhances critical thinking and adaptability.

Stronger Relationships: Engagement in family activities strengthens personal & peer bonds.

Community Involvement: Time for communities contributes to social responsibility.

Healthier Lifestyle: Work-life balance encourages exercise, proper diet, and sleep.

Offering these additional work-life balance for our employees provides a broader perspective of valuable assets. To learn more about our careers or enjoy some of the perks of being a Rōnin, check out our careers page and see if any openings are available for you to join our team!
