The challenge
This client, a prominent player in the wealth management industry, relies on proprietary software to deliver its investor communications services. Their highly seasonal business model requires tailored, scalable, and reliable software that performs at a high level to meet clients’ expectations.
While their system had been reliable for many years, it was time to modernize and align their technology with the company’s growing needs.
Their legacy system, composed of multiple applications, offered opportunities for improvement in efficiency, security, integration, and scalability. By transitioning to a more cohesive and up-to-date platform, the company aimed to simplify workflows, improve quality assurance, and build a strong foundation for continued growth.
They also wanted to focus on enhancing the process of generating and printing proxy ballots. The company saw opportunities to make these operations more efficient and accurate. A modernized solution would allow employees to preview ballots before printing, improving quality control and significantly reducing the time and resources required during their busiest season.

Complete system modernization for maintainability and longevity
The Rōnin team rebuilt legacy applications into a streamlined, user-friendly system. For front-end development, existing applications were migrated to modern technologies, such as .NET Core and Blazor, with SQL Server as the backend. The ballot generation process was rebuilt with new features like real-time previews and customizations, significantly reducing errors and saving time.
Collaborative and agile development
We provided full-stack development expertise, enabling comprehensive front-end, backend, and database development management. We filled the roles of business analyst, designer, and developer, providing a single point of accountability, simplifying communication, and accelerating project delivery. This close collaboration with the client ensured project agility, incorporating rapid feedback to quickly deliver tailored solutions.
User-friendly interface for rapid user onboarding
The newly developed interfaces are user-friendly and highly intuitive, allowing seasonal, temporary staff to onboard quickly and perform tasks with minimal training and fewer errors. Also, new features such as the ability to dynamically reorder, resize, and preview ballot elements eliminated dependencies on IT resources who were making minor changes that users could not make with the legacy software.
Attention to security and scalability
The new applications were transitioned to a secure, on-premises infrastructure managed by a third-party provider, ensuring business continuity and compliance. To enhance scalability and efficiency, the team also built a new reporting subsystem. This subsystem securely generates and distributes PDFs and summary reports to vendors, replacing the outdated solution and ensuring reliable performance as demands grow.
Printing service enhancement
The team built a Windows-based printing service that integrates seamlessly with the new system, enabling on-demand print job execution. We incorporated database-driven print settings to ensure consistent and error-free ballot printing
